Teaching english direct speech based on declarative sentences in Secondary schools

This research work provides the secondary teachers and learners with the didactic strategies that could help to implement the English direct speech items based on declarative sentences or statements in classes. As a matter of fact, to collect relevant data, three methods have been used, namely observation, questionnaire and the learners’ writing production. Therefore, it has been noticed that the teachers lack didactic or teaching strategies because they have not been equipped with the teaching procedures that could help them face these items in classes during the initial training period at ENS. Next, the failure to organize workshops by inspectors on the issue may hinder opportunities for teachers to enhance their skills on the English direct speech items and the learners are incapable of implementing the selected grammar item through the different writing activities in classes. Thus, this research work proposes some ways to teach, learn and test the direct speech items through the explanatory method couple with the 3Ps revisited teaching method in a given teaching card.
